Abstract

Extremophile organisms are those that have adapted to living in environments with extreme conditions very different from those in which most forms of life live. Victoriomyces antarcticus, a new genus and species found in Antarctic territory and described in 2019, was isolated by chance in a routine sampling in the Valparaíso region. Its isolation is communicated through morphological and molecular identification, commenting on its origin and geographic location due to its discovery through an analysis of anemophilous fungi for educational purposes.
