Abstract

Objective: to describe the satisfaction of Midwifery students regarding the use of the Game of Midwife video game as a complementary learning methodology for the analysis of neonatal radiographs in the context of the Neonatology internship.

Materials and Methods: quantitative, descriptive, cross-sectional study. The sample consisted of 77 fifth-year Midwifery students undertaking their Neonatology internship. Game of Midwife, a 2D side-scroller video game focused on neonatal X-ray analysis and question-based learning, was developed and provided as a complementary learning tool. Student satisfaction was assessed using an instrument adapted and validated by experts.

Results: 82% of students "strongly agreed" that they felt motivated to use and participate in the video game activities. Likewise, 69% "strongly agreed" that the video game encouraged their independent study. Additionally, 83% "strongly agreed" that the game helped them learn in a playful way, and 79% "strongly agreed" that it helped reinforce their knowledge.

Conclusions: use of the Game of Midwife video game as a complementary learning strategy during the Neonatology internship was positively evaluated by students, who reported a high level of satisfaction with the experience. They also expressed that more activities of this kind should be implemented in the development of theoretical courses.
